The mission of Sponsors of Educational Opportunity ‘SEO’ Scholars is to ensure that motivated NYC and San Francisco low-income public high school students get to and through America’s competitive colleges and universities. Accepted scholars are offered intensive year-round academic preparation. Classes are held on Saturdays, after school and during the summers.
Once accepted to university, SEO Scholars continues to support students through their college years via one-on-one guidance on adjusting to college life, building academic success skills, exploring career options and securing internships.
If you meet the programs requirements noted below, make sure you visit their website to apply. Applications for both cities are due by December 13, 2013.
- Attend urban public high schools in New York City and San Francisco
- Hold at least a 75% GPA in New York City and at least a 2.0 GPA in San Francisco
- Come from families whose median income is well below the poverty line (at $21,844 a year). The average family size is four, though nearly half of our Scholars are from single-parent households.
